Become a Member

SLSC’s network consists of member organizations who support our mission and share our values. All affiliates and associates are subject to an annual fee dependent on the type of membership. Individual fees may be negotiated based on organizational realities, subject to SLSC Board approval. Some key benefits that affiliates value include:

The 2 types of memberships and their specific benefits include:

Affiliate Member

for not-for-profit organizations that operate community-based residential facilities
  • 3 agency votes + 1 Board delegate vote in SLSC
  • Access to information/expertise on national social justice issues and legislation
  • Access to grants and awards
  • Online presence via SLSC’s website
  • Web hosting
  • Invitation to events/training and other forums for meetings with directors and management of SLSC’s network
  • Ability to submit content to SLSC's Community Connections Newsletter
  • Delegate to SLSC's Board of Directors
  • Ability to participate in Board sub-committees
  • Financial assistance (e.g., to attend in-person events)
  • Personal and professional support, including assistance with program standards and evaluation methodologies
  • Federal and provincial advocacy (local as needed)
  • Research and evaluation support
  • Modifications to affiliate agreement
  • Local Board and governance support

Associate Member

for social justice enterprises/ organizations/ institutions that support SLSC's mission
  • 1 agency vote
  • Access to information/expertise on national social justice issues and legislation
  • Access to grants and awards
  • Online presence via SLSC’s website
  • Web hosting
  • Invitation to events/training and other forums for meetings with directors and management of SLSC’s network
  • Ability to submit content to SLSC's Community Connections Newsletter
  • Ability to participate in Board sub-committees (limited)
  • Personal and professional support, including assistance with program standards and evaluation methodologies (based on available resources)
  • Federal and provincial advocacy (limited)
